Senior Citizen Health Conditions - Brusing due to medication
Many senior citizens take medications and supplements to help with senior citizen health conditions. Unfortunately, some of these medications cause blood thinning that can reduce the ability for blood to clot quickly. Drugs such as aspirin and Coumadin can cause this issue. As a result, bleeding from capillary damage may take a lot long to stop or clot and this can cause blood to leak out and cause major bruising. Other medications, such as corticosteroids can cause the skin to thing and also make it easier for bruising. It is important to note that these are not reasons to stop taking the medications, but it is advice that you discuss concerns with your doctor. Always discuss the reasons for being on medications and the side effects.
