SilverSneakers is a senior fitness program for those that are 65 and older. When healthier, you can expect more affordable senior health insurance because your body is stronger and more in shape. Founded in 1992, the national program is sponsored entirely by three major health insurance companies: Humana, Health Net, and Secure Horizons.

SilverSneakers fitness classes are based around the notion that you do not have to be running, or even walking, to get a good aerobic exercise. By using resistance tubing, 2 to 5 pound weights, and a lightweight medicine ball, participants increase bone density, muscle mass, and improve hand/eye coordination.
